Recording clinical procedures has become a useful tool in reviewing groundbreaking operating techniques. I have been asked to photograph and film patients undergoing retinal implant surgery, gene therapy and most recently the world’s first gene therapy operation for AMD. These images are also used by the media and communication department and have featured in articles highlighting the work carried out be the research department.
I submitted one of the images taken in theatre to the 2017 Royal Photographic International Images for Science competition.
Out of the 3500 entries submitted the photograph was selected to be part of the final 100 images which is included in the RPS touring exhibition.
